Princess Cup South East Asian Women’s U19 Volleyball Tournament



With Malaysia taking no further part in competition meant New Zealand were awarded a walkover on Tuesday's encounter and awarded a win with 3-0 margin.
The first of the remaining three encounters saw Australia take on Singapore.It was a close battle in the opening set as Australia manage to win the first set in the 29 minutes battle by 28-26 margin.Australia's Katie Garner was the star of the show winning maximum spikes for the team.In the second set Singapore seemed to lost the plot as Australia crushed Singapore 25-10 in 20 minutes.
Singapore regained their prowess in third set as they tried hard to stage a comeback with Kow Wei and Sue Teo leading the charge but Australia had all bases covered as they won the final set by 25-21 margin.

Host Thailand faced Indonesia in the second game as the hosts looked to extend their unbeaten run in the competition.Thailand showed their dominance across the three sets as they won by a convincing 25-19, 25-07 and 25-20 margin.
Srithong Wipawee and Moksri Chutchu-on were brilliant for the host as they delivered for the team in spikes and blocks earning crucial points every-time Indonesia tried to make inroad into the match. Wipawee showed his class clocking 7 spikes to her credit and 2 crucial blocks to give Thailand a big win over Indonesia.

Last and final encounter saw Vietnam take on Philippines , Vietnam showed brilliant class as they thrashed Philippines 3-0 with 25-14,25-16 and 25-18 margin.Ace spiker Luu Thi Hue starred for Vietnam as the lanky spiker recorded  12 spikes and 2 blocks to her credit. Vietnam were good in all tactical formations as they used their smashes and dabs to perfection with Hoang Anh and Doung Hen also supporting Luu in a well rounded team effort as they beat the Pinoy girls in a convicning 3-0 drubbing in an encounter that lasted 75 minutes.

Princess Cup South East Asian Women’s U19 Volleyball Tournament:Day 3 updates and scores

At Princess Cup South East Asian Women’s U19 Volleyball Tournament day three opening match saw Indonesia take on Malaysia.Indonesia though lost their last game to Vietnam were favorites against Malaysia as they won the game by comprehensive 3-0 margin.Malaysia showed moments of brilliance throughout the game but in the end Indonesia were more organzied as a side as they held their tactical shape and formations throughout the game to the match by 3-0 margin(25-17;25-15 and 25-11)

The second game was the most competitive match of the day as New Zealand were stacked up against an ever improving Singapore side.The match saw see saw battle between the two youth sides as both teams fought for dominance from opening set. New Zealand had the advantage of reach and power whereas Singapore were showing good tactical positioning of the ball movements to stretch the Kiwis.New Zealand inched past Singapore in neck-to-neck battle in the first set to win by a narrow 25-23 margin.Singapore came back strong in the following set as New Zealand made some glaring errors during the rallies to let Singapore back into the contest.Singapore spikers showed good play off the court and won the second set by 25-22 margin.
The third set was again a close battle and the New Zealand finally managing to overcome Singapore in the third set to win by 25-17 margin.
The fourth set was another close encounter but New Zealand managed to seal the set and match by beating Singapore by 25-23 margin.

In the third games Vietnam faced Australia , Vietnam coming back from brilliant run in this tournament gave Australia no chance as they thrashed Australia 3-0 winning by identical 25-12,25-12 and 25-12 margin to win the game by a comprehensive margin.

In the final game Asian rivals and upcoming regional powerhouse Thailand girls were faced against the Philippines sides.Both teams have shown good form in this competition but Thailand proved their mettle by winning 3-0 beating Philippines 25-14,25-23 and 25-16.Thailand survived a scare in the second round as they trailed the game midway in second set by 18-12 margin but a late dramatic comeback ensured they won the second set by a close 25-23 margin. Philipines never looked to recover from 2 set down as Thailand upped the ante in the final set amidst cheering home crowd to win the final set by 25-16 margin.

Princess Cup South East Asian Women’s U19 Volleyball Tournament: Australia,Vietnam,Philippines and Thailand win their respective matches on Day 2.

Princess Cup South East Asian Women’s U19 Volleyball Tournament saw great spiking action on second day as Australia faced Malaysia in the opening game.The Aussies wasted no time and controlled the game from the onset as they hurried to a win in the opening set by 25-09 margin.In the second set Malaysian spikers showed some spirit as they rallied on with some spirited performance in second set but the Aussies showed class and control as they used their height and reach to advantage to seal the second set by 25-17 margin.In the third set Australia started off well but however in the midway they seemed to lost the plot making some errors of the net and of the court allowing Malaysia a sniff back into the game as the set went down all the way to the wire but Australia managing to pull the set of 25-22 margin to win by comprehensive 3-0 margin.

In the second match of the day Vietnam faced Indonesia as Vietnam started as favorites in battle for South Asian supremacy.Vietnam had a comfortable opening set as they caught Indonesia napping in the opening two sets winning by comprehensive 25-15 and 25-17 margin Vietnam were clinical in the opening two sets as they stretched Indonesia all over the court and surprised them with big smashes across the net to scurry to a 2-0 lead. As Vietnam looked to run away with the game Indonesia came back strong in the third set as tactical substitution worked well for Indonesia as they lead by good 5 to 7 point margin all through the third set. As Indonesia looked to pull a set back Vietnam kept their rivals in sight as they fought back point by point to stage a late dramatic comeback in the final set eventually winning by 26-24 margin to complete a 3-0 drubbing.

In the third match of the day Philippines triumphed New Zealand(3-1) by 25-23;25-13;17-25 and  25-17 .

The final match of the day host Thailand faced Singapore.Thailand were overwhelmingly favorite to win the clash in front of a vocal crowd as they blanked Singapore 25-05;25-08 and 25-07 to saili through a comfortable 3-0 win.Thailand were no match for Singapore as they toyed with their opposition with strong tactical formational play to beat Singapore in less than an hour.

Princess Cup South East Asian Women’s U19 Volleyball Tournament gets underway as host Thailand beats New Zealand 3-0(25-17,25-12 and 25-10) as Vietnam,Indonesia and Phillipines too gets off to winning start

The princess Cup South East Asian Womens U-19 volleyball tournament started off in style in Wi Sommai arena in Sisaket province in Thailand as eight teams in two groups locked horns in the curtain raiser action on opening day.After a welcoming opening ceremony in presence of healthy young crowd the opening day action started with Vietnam locking horns against Malaysia.Vietnam showed their class with strong play as they blanked Malaysia 3-0 winning in straight set by 25-07,25-14 and 25-11 margin.


Next match was the showcase event of the day as hosts Thailand played against New Zealand and with the vocal crowd support Thailand blasted their way through winning the match by 25-12, 25-11 and 25-07 as the hosts gave no sniff to the Kiwi opponent. Thailand played strong both front and back of the court as they stretched the Kiwis to all parts of the court and showed good strong tactical play winning the match by a comfortable 3-0 margin.

In the third encounter another Asian team Indonesia came up strong against Australia as they beat the Aussies in another clean sweep of the day winning by 25-20, 25-15,25-14 margin.

In the last mach of the day Philippines overcame some late fightback from Singapore to win 3-0 as they thumped Singapore by 25-09, 25-14 and 25-23 margin. Philippines had it easy in the first two sets as they coasted to a 2-0 margin though they seemed to lost the plot  in the third set making a few errors from play and serve allowing Singapore to give them a late scare finally scraping past by 25-23 margin to complete the clean sweep in three sets.

In tomorrows encounter, Malaysia will face off against Australia, Vietnam face Indonesia,Philippines against New Zealand and  Singapore are pitted against host Thailand.
