The Australian duo have already shown their exceptional performances to sweep both titles in Thailand consisting of the Pak Bara Open in Satun and the Samila Open in Songkhla. Earlier, they also took silver medal at the Asian Championships on home soil aside from taking bronze medal at the last week’s Palembang Open in Indonesia.
Australia 1’s Artacho Del Solar/Laird are scheduled to take on Vietnam 3’s Mai Thi Hoa/ Hguyen Thi Tiep in their opening encounter on Thursday.
A total of 14 teams from eight countries comprising Australia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, New Zealand, Thailand and hosts Vietnam have been divided into four pools, Pools A, B, C and D.
Australia 1’s Mariafe Artacho Del Solar/Nicole Laird, China 2’s Wang Xinxin/Ding Jingjing and Vietnam 3’s Mai Thi Hoa/Nguyen Thi Tiep are in Pool A, with Pool B featuring China 1’s Chen Chunxia/Tang Ningya, Vietnam 2’s Nguyen Thi Thanh Tram/Tu Thi Thu Van and Thailand 1’s Ariya Laosaengsa/Kijja Khantarak.
Pool C comprises Hong Kong’s Ng Tin Lai/Wong Yuen Mei, New Zealand’s Julia Tilley/Alice Bain, Japan 1’s Keiko Utara/Hiroko Matsuyama and Indonesia’s Ragillia Nanda/Andriani Riski Dwi, while Vietnam 1’s Pham Le Tuyet Ngan/Le Thi Bich Vi, Australia 2’s Phoebe Bell/Becchara Palmer, fresh from winning the Palembang Open in Indonesia, Japan 2’s Erika Habaguchi/Hisako Yamada and Thailand 2’s Yodsaphat Pakham/Chanthira Khanok are in Pool D.
All participating teams will contest the pool round-robin preliminaries, with top two teams from each pool advancing to the next round.
